Since the
business release of Windows Vista, many of you managing IIS have struggled to manage your environment from your new
Windows Vista machines. Although this isn't an issue for IIS customers since the
IIS Manager is directly available on Vista, we realize it does affect many of you who run other services. The Windows Server 2003 Administration Pack doesn't work correctly on Windows Vista thus not allowing you to manage your various servers from your
new Vista desktop.
Microsoft has corrected this problem and released an update that will allow you to run Windows Vista (and IIS7) on your desktop but still manage your Windows Server 2003-based services. The fix, outlined in the
Knowledge Base article 930056, requires you to create a new script, run this script in an
elevated command-prompt, and create a new shortcut.
