Hi,

I am new to this company and I was given my first task to resolve this issue. I am not pretty sure about the PHP installation on this server. I would be greatful if any one can guide me on the below queries.

1. How do we check whether PHP installation is correct or not?
2. When I try to browse the problematic web site, I get the below error in Event Viewer

php forum - login re-direct issue since running on IIS 7.5

Dear all

I do have a forum, running on an LAMP environment. The login there works just fine, you enter a username and a password, click on "login" and you get directly logged in and re-directed to the front-startpage of the forum.

I've moved the forum to an IIS 7.5 (Windows 7 64bit), where php (5.3.10) and mySQL (5.5.20) is running.

Running the forum there, brings the following issues:

- login does not correctly work -> username & password provided, and clicked "login" will NOT log you in until you click on the front-startpage (looking into the database, say's exactly the same, once you click to go back to the frontpage, it loggs you in)

- If a new posting is made in the forum, and you read it, it's not getting marked as read - it takes about 1h until it's marked as read

I was looking for a solution, or same issues and found some hints, regarding cookie handling on an IIS php hosted site

Any ideas?

Hi,

Problem: When I try to add CGI to IIS7 on Windows 7 (from Control Panel) I get:
"An error has occurred., Not all of the features were successfully changed."

Another thread led me to the CBS.log file where I find this (this is the tail end of the log)...

Currently I have IIS up and running and I have a 'Team Foundation Server' site.

I want to get PHP running and for that I need to enable Fast CGI.

FastCGI module and connected application

I'm trying to find a proper way to connect an application to IIS over FastCGI.

There's official FastCGI specification and quite old library on fastcgi.com site.
There are also some interesting posts on IIS page in the subject:

Everything looks promising, except connection with IIS over FastCGI assuming multithreaded approach.

Going into details ....

Using FastCGI on *nix platform application can handle concurrent requests that way:

socket() / bind() / listen()

// END thread 2

Unfortunately, using IIS FastCGI module, I can't find proper solution to handle multiple concurrent requests with single process (without spawning new processes by IIS FastCGI module or just to decrease its number).

I can get two things from FastCGI module on application side:

1. handle – created using CrateNamedPipe() by IIS FastCGI module

HANDLE hPipe;
hPipe = GetStdHandle( STD_INPUT_HANDLE );

2. name of created pipe

getenv("_FCGI_X_PIPE_")

What can I do with those things to handle concurrent requests ?
Is there any way to get more handle points to go into multithreaded application version ?
Is there any other way to play with FastCGI IIS module to handle concurrent requests by one application process ?

Does anyone from developers of IIS FastCGI module can give me the final answer ? Is it possible with IIS FastCGI module at all ?

Can I create a named pipe (multiple handle) on application side and pass its name somehow to the IIS module ?
Can I create a new handle to named pipe with given by _FCGI_X_PIPE_ name on application side ?

I've checked several configuration on *nix environments and each of them can handle requests that way... (one application process can handle concurrent multiple requests so it's not necessary to always spawn new process to handle concurrent request)

- Apache + mod_fastcgi
- Nginx (has native fastcgi support)
- lighttpd + spawn_fastcgi

Any help appreciated.

C++ FastCGI Application User Delegation

I would like to use a C++ FastCGI application (using libfcgi, http://www.coastrd.com/fastcgi) with IIS instead of having a custom C++ web server based on one of the Boost ASIO examples. Once I finally got it working, I tried accessing our SQL Server from within the app, and I got a Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON error. I was not getting this error with the custom server. I am also able to access the database without problems using CGI via perl scripts. I am guessing that delegation works differently with the FastCGI process than it does with regular CGI. Can anyone suggest things to try to get delegation working?

Hello all,

I have a strange problem this morning. My file_uploads were not working (via a CMS) so i did some checking. I made a php file with the phpinfo() call and see here that file uploads are off. I go to my php.ini file and do a search for file_uploads and here they are set to On....

At first i thought that maybe i was in the wrong php.ini file so i double checked "loaded configuration file" in the phpinfo() and i'm looking at the correct one (C:\Program Files\PHP\php.ini)

Any ideas of how this could be happening? I did a file search on the machine and don't see anymore php.ini files existing,...

recently I set up a web server running Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition.
This server is hosting one wordpress blog (www.magi-mania.de)

Unfurtanetly the web site is ran very unstable and logged lots of these events:

PHP had been installed via Windows Platform installer.

Then I figured out there might be problems caused by object-cache.php
So I followed this post:

After changing this, the site was more reliable, but after about an hour it crashed again and no processing was possible after I did an iisreset.

Has anyone an idea what I can do?

Without wincache the site is running slower, but stable.

Hi, i'm trying to install the FastCGI module in a Windows 7. But i d'ont have internet in this pc, and i want to install FastCGI IIS7 without Microsoft Web Platform ! How can i do that !? It's possible with FastCGI 1.5 for windows XP, but FastCGI 1.5 is not for Windows 7.

Error when accessing wordpress application

We get the following message when accessing a wordpress application via IIS

When checking the listed file we can see it has only 1932 lines.

How do we resolve this?

Wordpress, PHP and mysql were all installed using the Webmatrix installer.

We have carried out this installation on a number of servers and had no issues whatsoever.

I have noticed that even though the server is a webserver with IIS7.5 installed ( running on Windows server 2008R2 standard x64 ) the webmatrix installer has installed IIS express - not sure if this has any bearing on matters.

php-cgi.exe hanging webserver - CPU between 0 (idle) to 20% usage..

Hi,

I have a running 2003 server/iis6 with 4 WordPress sites running - it works great with pretty permalinks and all the bells and whistles as far as the WP installation goes. The server has about 2GB memory/1 single processor - so its not a high end server.

They only issue is that when the php-cgi.exe spawn to multiple processes like over 10-15 (maybe its 15-20 somewhat) it starts hanging even though the server load is very low. The cpu is between idle-ling to maybe 15-20 %.

I have tried to test with different values on the "maxinstances=" from auto dynamic throttle (0) to higher values - but it does not seem to do much difference. Best effect has been when I have set a lower value like 6-8. The server also uses a lot of page file (4-6 GB) instead of utilize the internal memory, even though there is at least 1 gigabyte or more memory free..

I'm stuck with iis6 for now until, so I cannot upgrade..

Any ideas what can be done to fix this?

I would like to remove PHP 5.2 but i cannot find a procedure.

I am following this manual and my problem is than when I try to open phpinfo.php it forces me to download or open the code from page, instead of show me the information.

How can I pass command line arguments to my fastcgi process?

I have created a Visual C++ app called fastcgi.exe and I want to use this with the IIS 7.5.7600.16385 FastCgiModule.

If I use IIS Manager to create a handler mapping using FastCgiModule, specifying this executable, then IIS Manager also automatically creates a corresponding entry in FastCGI settings. All I have to do then is set the protocol for the latter to Tcp and everything works. My fastcgi.exe receives requests and sends responses that I see in my Web browser.

Now I want to pass an argument to fastcgi.exe on its command line (because my exe is actually a script processor and the fastcgi processing is done by this script - currently the script path is hard-coded but I want this choice of script to be part of the configuration of my IIS website). The FastCGI settings entry has a property for command line arguments, but I cannot change it once the entry has been created - it appears to be part of the key. I have tried various approaches:

1. If I add command line arguments to the path I select when creating a handler mapping, the FastCGI setting entry created by IIS Manager includes these in the path, not in the arguments property. In the browser, I see

HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error

The FastCGI executable could not be found

Moreover, I cannot then edit this FastCGI setting entry in IIS Manager because it complains it is not a .exe.

2. If I create the handler specifying just the executable, then manually create a FastCGI settings entry with the same executable, but adding an argument (which you can only do at the time the entry is created) then in the browser I see:

HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error

<handler> scriptProcessor could not be found in <fastCGI> application configuration

This is the point I made above about the arguments perhaps being part of the key used to match a handler to a fastCGI application.

3. If I set up a working configuration using just the exe paths, then use appcmd to set the argument property of the entry in the fastCGI section (not possible using IIS Manager as noted above) then I get the same error as in 2 above.

I will probably instead try to use an environment variable to pass the script to my fastcgi.exe, but nevertheless it is frustrating that there is a way to specify a command line argument but that this does not actually seem to be workable in any configuration I have tried.

Wordpress on IIS - Cache problem

Hello,

I have a wordpress site on my server and I have an issue with the cache. When I make new posts, I see them, however some other changes like editing a template or editing some widgets I don't see them.

It's a windows server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5 and FastCGI PHP 5.3.10. I installed the extension php_wincache and the wordpress through the microsoft web installer. I installed a plugin called W3 Total Cache to wordpress and I tried to cache and then flush cache, in case this could really empty the cache but nothing again. How can I really empty the cache on a website? The only solution I found, is to delete the Temp ASP.NET files!

I am trying to get my first WordPress installation running under Windows IIS 7.5 and I am running into the common "Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress." error.

I used the Web Matrix Installer which installed:
PHP 5.3.19
Wordpress 3.4
MySQL 5.1

I have run the PHPinfo.php page with no problems so I know PHP is working.

The MySQL service is running (though I'm not sure how to test that it is actually working).

Presumably WordPress is installed properly but cannot "speak" to mySQL. I have tried the following from other articles about this same error:

1. Changed the hosts file so the IPv6 is commented out, like so
# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
Restarted IIS afterwards. Rebooted as well.

2. Made sure that extension=php_mysql.dll and extension=php_mysqli.dll are uncommented in my php.ini file

3. Granted IIS_IUSRS and NETWORK SERVICE permissions to the entire WP directory and the PHP directory.

4. Confirmed that an environment variable had been created which points to the PHP installation directory, which is C:\Program Files (x86)\PHP\v5.3\

FYI I am running this on a Amazon EC2 instance of windows 2008R2 if that matters.

Any help would be appreciated - this is driving me a little crazy at this point and I cannot find any other suggestions.

Getting to update changes from php.ini file

Hello. I've worked on getting the mysql.dll module to communicate within my PHP version 5.4.11 for several days with limited success so far. What irks me is that whenever I try and verify modifications that I make to the php.ini file, nothings seems to update at http://localhost/phpinfo.php Of several other changes that I've attempted within the php.ini include fastcgi.impersonate="1" fastcgi.logging="0" date.timezone="America\New_York etc.. but nothing seems to show on the info page. I've ensured that the extension_dir="" is correct. My PHP folder has been moved to C:\ with the "ext" folder contained inside and mysql.lib is located in Win32. Handler mapping for Fast CGI has all been redirected to reflect the above stated document pathways. Anyone have suggestions? Ultimately, I'm trying to get Dreamweaver to allow a connection from my PHP page to a small mysql data table. Thanks!

I'm troubleshooting a server which stops serving web pages after an error condition is reached within either fcgi or wincache. Over on the wincache forum there was a recommendation to switch from wincache 1.3.4.0 to 1.3.4.1. When I did this I started receiving this error message on failure:

I'm just not able to run my php site under IIS7. Well, I am a first timer with PHP.

I'm using "php manager" to configure the php settings.
Step done until now.

But when I run checkphp info() I hit roadblock, it throws an error.
I have already give FC to the root folder, but it still throws this error.
